1
Asept-Air uses only technologies that are proven to be effective and produce no undesirable by-products such as ozone or free radicals.
2
Working in conjunction with its in-house laboratory and in partnership with various university and governmental research and testing facilities, Asept-Air is confident in the performance and safety of its products.
3
Asept-Air does not use technologies such as ion generators, electrostatic precipitators or ozone emitters which can actually turn impure air into toxic air.
We are proud to offer a wide range of technologies proven to be effective and produce no undesirable by products such as ozone or free radicals.
1WHISPAIR™ SOUND REDUCING CHAMBERS
Another Asept-Air innovation available on select units ingeniously routes filtered air through a series of specially designed chambers to reduce airspeed and smooth out turbulence before returning the filtered air to the room. This process dramatically reduces exhaust noise levels to a whisper.
2ULTRAVIOLET GERMICIDAL LIGHTS
Like activated carbon, Ultraviolet (UV) light can be used to effectively destroy bacteria and viruses.
And, like activated carbon, UV lights differ widely in type, design, and effectiveness. Asept-Air uses only non-ozone producing UV bulbs with a measured wavelength of 254nm. Stronger bulbs are available, but as strength increases, ozone emissions can occur. The process works like this, as particles traveling in the air stream are exposed to the UV light, their reproductive abilities are destroyed rendering them harmless since they are no longer able to reproduce.
3PURITY-PLUS™ GRANULAR MEDIA MIXES
Asept-Air’s exclusive and proprietary Purity-Plus™granular medias are unlike any others available and have been specifically formulated for removing volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), toxic gases and offensive odors during the gas-phase filtration stage of air purification. Asept-Air uses only top quality raw materials and a tightly monitored series of proprietary processes to produce these highly effective and very versatile granular medias. Asept-Air even has developed one to reduce carbon monoxide levels! Whatever the contaminant Purity-Plus™ is your best defense.
4WASHABLE ANTIMICROBIAL PREFILTERS
Asept-Air utilizes prefilters wherever possible to capture larger particles such as dust, pet hair, pollen and other airborne contaminants that can clog HEPA filters and wreak havoc on internal components such as motor bearings and fan blades. Washable electrostatic or inexpensive versions are best since you can easily remove and clean or replace them on a regular basis, prolonging the life of more expensive HEPA and media based filters.
5PHOTOCATALYTIC OXIDATION
Photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) is a process whereby UV light is focused onto special metal plates which have been impregnated with Titanium Dioxide (TiO2). The UV light excites the TiO22 and as air particles contact the metal plates they are burned up (oxidized) leaving behind only microscopic amounts of water and carbon dioxide. Titanium Dioxide is a white, naturally occurring compound that is extensively used as a coloring agent in numerous everyday products such as cosmetics, toothpaste, food products, paper, paints, and sunscreen, for its UV blocking properties. Photocatalytic Oxidation is effective at eliminating odors and destroying residual bacteria and viruses.
6True 99.97% HEPA FILTERS
HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air, and there are standards to which the acronym HEPA applies, namely for a filter to be called HEPA it must remove (trap) 99.97% of particles of 0.3 microns in size or large as the air passes through it. Many claim to use HEPA filters, but in reality they do not. The reason why you want to have a TRUE HEPA filter is because most bacteria and viruses are larger than 0.3 microns in size and thus a true HEPA filter will remove them from the air stream and anything less than that defeats the purpose of trying to purify the air.
7ACTIVATED CARBON
Activated carbon, sometimes erroneously called charcoal, has been used for decades to effectively filter air and water. Through a process called adsorption, small particles become trapped in very tiny microscopic cracks (fissures) found in grains of activated carbon. Incredibly if you were to measure the surface are of all the fissures in a just handful of activated charcoal, the total surface area would be approximately 250,000 Ft2; or the equivalent of 5 football fields! Typically there are 2 types of carbon filters in the market, those made of actual carbon grains, and those made by passing a piece of material through a carbon dust bath. Each has their own merits, but one thing is certain, untreated, raw activated carbon (coal, coconut shells, wood, bamboo etc) alone is ineffective at removing short-chain hydrocarbons such as alcohols and ammonia (perfumes and cleaning products), acetone (nail polish remover), formaldehyde (adhesives, particle board, fiberboard, chipboard)and sulfur compounds found in common household odors. Through a process known as adsorption/desorption, these short-chain hydrocarbon particles are temporarily trapped by the activated carbon grains, but the bond is weak and when another particle hits the activated carbon grain, some of the previously trapped particles become dislodged and are released back into the air stream, effectively passing right through the carbon bed.
Asept-Air uses only activated carbon from reliable sources and lab tests each batch separately for purity and adsorption capacity. In addition, Asept-Air employs very stringent handling and storage methods, keeping its activated carbon in a controlled environment to preserve effectiveness.
